Sink Combs Dethlefs came home with an award for “Best Use of Hard Materials” in our debut appearance at the annual IIDA RMC Pret-A-Porter fashion show.
The theme for this year’s Pret-A-Porter was “Haute (and Hat) Couture”. Haute couture is French for “high fashion” or “high sewing” which basically describes high-end fashion that is constructed by hand, from start to finish.
We were asked to submit our 3-word team name early in the submittal process. Naturally, the design team drew inspiration from our own architectural expertise…arenas. We coined ourselves “In The Arena”. After a few weeks of brainstorming and design sketches, we landed on a Modern Interpretation of a female gladiator, drawing inspiration from contemporary sports apparel. The finished product is both powerful and beautiful.
Our team was fortunate enough to get paired with Koroseal Interior Products. Koroseal is a leading commercial interior products company that specializes in wallcoverings, presentation surfaces, wall protection systems, digital printing and much more. We would like to extend a big thank you to Koroseal and their Territory Manager, Burton, for supporting us with plenty of samples and special-order products which allowed us to create our award-winning outfit.
As you can see in the picture below, we made a good first impression at the fashion show.
Good job team!
